Sports Wagering

Student-athletes are prohibited from gambling or wagering on any sport that the NCAA sponsors (amateur, professional or otherwise). This ban also applies to pools or fantasy leagues in which an entry fee is required and there is an opportunity to win a prize or money.

For the purpose of this legislation, gambling includes the possibility of receiving or standing to lose anything of value. The NCAA regulations against gambling can result in the loss of a student-athlete's eligibility in all NCAA sports, in addition to other consequences, such as financial hardship, jail time, media scrutiny, run-ins with organized crime and loss of jobs.

In addition, providing performance-related or medical information on any student-athlete to anyone (e.g., bookie) is considered gambling.
