Extra Benefits
In general terms, an Extra Benefit is defined as providing something of value to a prospective or enrolled student-athlete that is not readily available to the general student body and/or public. Fans and Boosters are not permitted to provide anything to prospective or enrolled student-athletes (or their families and friends) without prior approval from the Compliance Office. If a student-athlete or his/her family accepts any benefits of special consideration (e.g., transportation, meals, lodging, money, etc.) based on his/her athletic skill, the student-athlete will lose his/her eligibility and LSU will be subject to NCAA penalties. There are a few circumstances which would allow a fan or booster to provide items of value to a prospective or enrolled student-athlete and/or their families (e.g., pre-existing relationship); however such details must be vetted through the Compliance Office prior to providing to a prospective or enrolled student-athlete and/or their families.
